Customize everything yourself
Every showToCart feature is no-code and lives in your dashboard. Follow these guides to set up and style each one — no support ticket required.
Getting started
After installing from the Shopify App Store, you’ll land on a short setup guide that walks you through four steps in a few minutes. You can follow it in order, skip a step, or come back to it later — it stays on your dashboard until you’re done.
- Enable the app. Flip the showToCart app embed toggle on in your theme so widgets can appear on your storefront. The guide shows you the exact switch.
- Add your first video. Upload from your device or import from Instagram / TikTok. In a hurry? Start with the built-in sample videos to see it working instantly.
- Tag products. Attach products to a video so shoppers can buy what they see.
- Add it to your store. Open the theme editor and drop a showToCart block on any page, then publish. Your shoppable video is live.
The dashboard tour
The left menu groups everything you can control:
- Library — all your videos, uploads and imports, with per-video settings.
- Playlists — the collections a widget shows. A widget points at a playlist.
- Customize — the visual editors for each widget and the reel popup.
- Analytics — views, engagement, add-to-carts and revenue.
- Growth tools — UGC reviews, review-request emails, SEO pages.
- Settings — plan, display rules, languages.
Add & customize widgets
showToCart ships six storefront layouts. You place them from the theme editor and style them from the app’s Customize section.
- Carousel — a horizontal row of video cards (great for the homepage).
- Grid — a responsive gallery of videos.
- Stories — round, tappable story circles.
- Floating bubble — a corner button that opens the reel feed.
- Product videos — videos on the product page for that product.
- Reel popup — the full-screen player any card opens (see below).
Place a widget
- Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Choose a page (or section), click Add block / Add section, and pick the showToCart layout.
- In the block settings, select which playlist it should show.
- Click Save.
Style it
In the app, open Customize and pick the widget. You can change colours, card size and spacing, autoplay behaviour, headings, badges and more — with a live preview beside the controls.
Card templates & carousel navigation
Under Customize → Styles there are two libraries that apply across every widget on your store:
- Card templates — how each video card looks: Simple (a clean tile), Overlay (product name & price over the video), Title (a caption bar), Product (a product card beside the video) or Tagged. You can also save your own presets.
- Carousel navigation — how the arrows and pagination dots appear on every carousel: Classic Circle, Modern Square, Minimal Line or Inside Controls.
Reel popup
The reel popup is the full-screen, swipeable player that opens when a shopper taps any video card. Customize it under Customize → Reel popup.
- Brand colours for buttons, product panel and cart.
- Show/hide the product slider, share, and sound controls.
- Add-to-cart button label and behaviour.
Display rules
Decide which pages a widget appears on. Under Settings → Display rules, choose an allow-list (for example, only the homepage and product pages). Pages you don’t select won’t show the widget.
Product tagging
Tagging makes a video shoppable. Open a video in the Library, choose Tag products, and search your catalog.
- Open the video → Tag products.
- Search and add one or more products.
- Save. The card and reel popup now show those products with live price, title and variants.
Instagram & TikTok import
Bring in reels without re-uploading. Under Library → Import, connect an account or paste a handle.
- Go to Library → Import and choose Instagram or TikTok.
- Enter the handle (or connect the account).
- Select the reels to import — they’re added to your Library.
- For Instagram, optionally enable auto-sync so new posts import automatically every 15 minutes. (TikTok is manual import.)
UGC video reviews
Collect video reviews from real customers, then moderate and publish the best ones. Open it under Growth tools → UGC reviews and click Customize — the editor has five tabs:
- Appearance — see the submission-page link to share, upload your logo, set the button background & text colours, turn on dark mode, and pick a moderation mode.
- Translations — edit every word on the submission page, in any of your storefront languages.
- QR code — download a branded QR that opens the submission page.
- Smart QR — link a QR to a specific product, track scans per product, and export a bulk PDF of per-product QR codes (perfect for packaging inserts).
- Comments — the moderation queue: submissions waiting for review appear here to approve or reject.
What the customer sees
The submission page walks the shopper through four steps: 1 · Choose (record a video or upload a file) → 2 · Record → 3 · Review (they check it before sending) → 4 · Done. It all happens in the browser — there's nothing for them to install.
Set it up
- Style the page in Appearance and translate it if needed.
- Share the submission link, add it to your store menu, or hand out the QR code.
- Customers record a video in their browser (or upload one) and submit.
- Review incoming videos in the Comments queue and approve the ones you want.
- Approved videos publish to your Library and can appear on the tagged product.
Quiz & Poll
Make your reels interactive. Inside the reel popup you can add a poll (a quick vote) or a quiz (a product-finder that recommends products based on the shopper’s answers). Build them under Growth tools → Quiz & Poll.
- Open Growth tools → Quiz & Poll and create a quiz or poll.
- Add your questions and answer options; for a quiz, map answers to products.
- Attach it to the videos or playlist where it should appear.
- Shoppers answer inside the reel popup and get guided to the right products.
Ratings & badges
Show social proof on your video cards.
- Product star ratings — automatically pulled from your reviews app and shown on cards.
- Discount badge — auto-calculates the % off from the product’s compare-at price.
- Offer badge — an on-sale ribbon on the corner of the card.
- Custom label — a free-text badge you set per video in the Library’s Badge Settings.
SEO video pages
Every video gets a crawlable landing page, and your store gets a video sitemap and rich VideoObject markup — so your videos can show up in Google search and video results.
- A ready-made video hub at
/apps/videosthat lists every video and updates automatically. - Per-video landing pages with product links and structured data.
- A video sitemap for search engines.
/apps/videos link to your store menu under Online Store → Navigation to give shoppers a browsable video gallery.Video sales page
Show all your shoppable videos in one grid on a page of your store — a video shopping hub where shoppers browse the videos, tap a product and buy. It reuses your existing video grid widget, so there's no extra page-load cost. Open it under Growth tools → Video sales page. There are two ways to do it:
Option 1 — Build your own video page
Put the video grid on a page and choose exactly which playlist shows — best for a curated, branded video page.
- In Shopify admin, open Online Store → Pages → Add page, give it a title (e.g. “Shop our videos”) and save.
- Click Add video grid to a page in the app — the theme editor opens with the video grid ready to drop on.
- In the block settings, set Widget Type to Grid and pick the playlist(s) to show. Adjust columns and spacing, then save.
- Add the page to your store menu (Online Store → Navigation) so shoppers can find it.
Option 2 — Use your ready-made video hub
When SEO video pages is on, your store already has a live, auto-updating page with every video at /apps/videos — no setup needed, and new videos appear there automatically. Use Open or Copy link in the app, then add the link to your store menu (Online Store → Navigation) to feature it as “Videos”.
Analytics
Under Analytics, see how your videos perform: views, impressions, unique viewers, clicks, add-to-carts, purchases, revenue and watch time — with period-over-period changes. Revenue is attributed to the videos that drove it.
Review-request emails
Automatically ask customers for a video review after they buy. Set it up under Growth tools → Review emails, which has four tabs:
- SMTP — connect and verify your own sending email so messages come from your store, not a third party.
- Email template — design the email in a drag-and-drop builder with a live preview (more below).
- Automation — set the delay (e.g. 7 days after fulfillment) and switch automation on. You can attach a thank-you discount coupon to encourage reviews.
- Orders — see which fulfilled orders were sent a request and their status.
The email builder
Set the subject line, then build the body by dragging blocks in and clicking any block to edit it. Available blocks:
- Heading, Text, Button, Image, Video and Divider / Spacer for structure.
- Product and Purchased products — show a specific product, or auto-fill what the customer actually bought.
- Coupon — a thank-you discount code, and QR code — a scannable link straight to the review form.
- Logo, Social links and Columns for side-by-side layouts.
Use Styles to set colours and fonts, Templates to start from a ready-made design, and Reset to clear it. Toggle the desktop / mobile preview to check both. The main button always links to your product-scoped review form, so every buyer lands on the right submission page — and fulfilled orders get a review request with that product-specific link automatically.
Customize it — step by step
- Write the subject. Type it in the Email subject field. Use
{name}to drop in the customer's first name. - Add a block. Click any block in the toolbar (Heading, Text, Button, Imageā¦) to add it to the email.
- Reorder. Drag a block up or down to change its position in the body.
- Edit a block. Click it to open its controls. What you can change depends on the block:
- Heading / Text — the words, alignment, text colour and font size.
- Button — the label, text colour, corner style and a full-width toggle. (It always links to your review form.)
- Image / Logo / Video — the image or video link, thumbnail and alignment.
- Product / Purchased products — heading, star rating and the per-product button text.
- Coupon / QR code — the code and a caption.
- Divider / Spacer — thickness or height. Every block also has top/bottom spacing.
- Set global styles. Open Styles to change the email background, content background, link colour, button colour, font and content width (360–700px), plus the footer text.
- Save or reuse a design. Use Templates to save the current layout under a name or load a ready-made one; Reset clears everything.
- Check both screens. Toggle the desktop / mobile preview to confirm it looks right everywhere, then save.
FAQ
Do I need to edit theme code? No. Everything is done from the app and the theme editor’s visual blocks.
Will it slow my store down? No — videos lazy-load, cards show a poster first, and the widgets are never the largest element on the page, so they don’t drag down your LCP. Cards render with zero layout shift (CLS 0) in our tests. Adaptive streaming also serves each shopper the right resolution (480p / 720p / 1080p) for their device and connection speed — with native HLS on Safari/iOS — so mobile and slow networks stay fast while fast desktops get full HD.
Can I remove it cleanly? Yes. Remove the blocks in the theme editor; your theme is unchanged.
Which languages are supported? The storefront and forms support 21 languages, with editable translations.
